Katie B's Owner Calls Southport Residents "Privileged"

The owner of Katie B's — which has announced that its closing — said that the move is in part because of how rude the shoppers in Southport are.

Katie B's, 3715 N. Southport Ave., may be closing, but owner Katherine Dyon has a few more things to say before it officially shuts its doors.

Dyon told DNAinfo that she is closing the store because "not making money and being treated like crap doesn't work." Dyon said that, about four years ago, she and her family began to notice a change in the locals that visited her store (which was then Petite Feet). The residents seemed "snobby" or "privileged", and often treat the store employees very rudely.

"People are rude. Nasty," Dyon told DNAinfo. "Nobody appreciates anything. We're tired of being yelled at. We're tire of being treated like slaves. That's it. It's nasty over here."

Katie B's opened in July of 2013, and will officially close within the next week or two. Until then, everything in the store is 50 percent off.

Do you agree with Dyon's opinion that Southport residents are snobby or do you think she's wrong? Let us know in the comments below!
