Bow Truss Owner Plans Craft Cocktails, Oyster Bar for East Lake View

The new ventures will fill a former adult gift shop, with owner Phil Tadros saying he want's to bring Violet Hour's atmosphere to Lake View.

Lake View fans of Wicker Park’s Violet Hour are in for a treat: Bow Truss coffee’s owner Phil Tadros is telling Eater Chicago he plans to open a cocktail lounge and oyster bar on North Broadway.

The two joint ventures will take over the former Adult Fantasy space at 2928 N. Broadway St., just a few storefronts south of Bow Truss.

The narrow, 4,000-square-foot space is two stories, leaving room for a concept on each level, Eater writes. Each level will also have it’s own name: Oyster Pail on the ground floor, and The Wilcox in the basement level.

"There's nowhere in East Lakeview or on Broadway to get a good cocktail," Tadros told reporter Daniel Gerzina. "The closest place is Barrelhouse Flat. We want to do what Violet Hour does with cocktails but with a relaxed atmosphere."

Oyster Pail will be cozy and light, while the lower level at The Wilcox will have more of a speakeasy feel, DNAinfo writes. The spaces will serve up oysters and different hams, as well as craft cocktails developed by Fat Rice’s bar manager Jason Brown.

Tadros hopes to open by January.
