UPDATED: Belmont Nursing Home Fails Food Inspection

The Lake View nursing home failed its food inspection on Nov. 25 for several serious violations.

The Belmont Nursing Home, 1936 W. Belmont Ave., recently failed a food inspection, according to data made public by the City of Chicago. 

The Belmont Nursing Home was inspected on Nov. 25, after the Chicago Department of Public Health received a complaint. 

The nursing home passed a follow-up inspection on Dec. 5. 

The nursing home was cited for not having its outer openings rodent-proofed and for approximately 40 live fruit flies observed around the facility (including the dining area, restrooms and a hallway). The inspection also found an outside dumpster overflowing with garbage, and a black slimy substance was observed on the interior wall of an ice maker. The facility was also told they need to replace or repair shelvings with peeling paint inside the basement. an outside dumpster was found overflowing.
