More than 1 Million Pack Pride Parade Route

It's the largest crowd ever seen for the Pride Parade, a colorful event that drew 850,000 last year.

The largest crowd in the Chicago Pride Parade's history swarmed the city Sunday afternoon, drawing more than 1 million to the route, police told NBC Chicago.

That's a much bigger crowd than anticipated, with the 2012 parade snagging an estimated 850,000 people. The U.S. Supreme Court's ruling on the Defense of Marriage Act and the parade's longer route, which debuted last year, are suspected to be the cause of the larger group.
