First Musical Act Announced for Chicago Pride Fest 2013

Wilson Phillips was recently announced for Market Days, but now organizers say they've secured Pride Fest's first performer.

Just days after snagging approval to host Pride Fest a week before the Chicago Pride Parade, organizers say they’ve secured former Danity Kane singer Aubrey O’Day as the festival’s first headliner, ChicagoPride.com reports.

"We're very pleased to announce Aubrey," Sean Kotwa, Hydrate general manager and co-chair of the Northalsted Business Alliance organizing committee, told ChicagoPride.com. "She's just one of the many exciting performers from our entire lineup that we hope will appeal to all generations."

O’Day will perform her own songs, as well as songs from Danity Kane, on June 22, ChicagoPride.com writes.

The announcement comes after the alliance said Wilson Phillips is slated to headline Market Days.

O’Day’s first claim-to-fame came after appearing on MTV’s Making the Band in 2005 where Sean “Diddy” Combs gathered a group of girls to create pop band Danity Kane. Their most successful song is Damaged, but the group dismantled shortly after.

The singer also appeared on Celebrity Apprentice and had her own television series, All About Aubrey.

Singer Jo Jo, American Idol’s Frenchie Davis and Guinevere headlined 2012’s Pride Fest celebration.

Jen Gordon, a spokesperson for the business alliance, says more details about the headliners and events for the upcoming Pride Week will become available in the next few weeks.
