As the Cubs face the St. Louis Cardinals for a two-game series, more fans from both cities will crowd the area.
The Cubs will face their biggest rivals at the end of a 10-game home stretch this week, playing the St. Louis Cardinals for a two-game series. Expect more traffic Tuesday and Wednesday as these series tend to draw additional fans to the area. After a splitting against the Padres, the Cubs start the week with a Sunday afternoon game against the Reds at 1:20 p.m. On Monday, they'll host the Rangers for a make-up game from the rainout on April 17. With an 11-17 record and six games back in the NL Central, the team is lucky to have a home field advantage against the division leaders. Almost 200 runners gathered at Fleet Feet Chicago in Lincoln Square Monday night, paying tribute to those who were injured or killed in Boston one week ago.
On April 15, Doug Franklin ran the Boston Marathon and beat his personal record by 12 minutes, completing 26.2 miles in about 3 hours and 57 minutes. He was euphoric. And then he was horrified. The Lakeview resident finished just 9 minutes before two bombs exploded at the finish line of the Boston Marathon, killing three and injuring more than 180 people. “I went from the top of the world to complete and utter chaos,” he said. “Police were telling us to go every which way because there’s no way to direct people when something like that happens.” But after tragedy struck in one of the largest races in the world, the running community has united. Companies across the country held a memorial run for Boston Monday night, one week after the …

Part of the Cubs’ plan to add 30 extra security guards at the ballpark includes sharing that cost with local businesses and the city.
New details regarding the Chicago Cubs’ plan to renovate Wrigley Field suggest the city and local businesses would share the cost of the 30 extra security guards planned to patrol the ballpark, unnamed sources told the Chicago Tribune. Framework for the $500 million investment planned for Wrigleyville was released Monday morning, with extra security during games a priority for both the Cubs and neighbors. Adding 30 more officers would essentially double the amount of security personnel currently at the field. Cubs Chairman Tom Ricketts addressed the media at Wrigley Field Monday morning, explaining the new security measures the team planned for Lake View. He explained the Cubs would pay for 10 of those officers, but when asked who would …

The framework contains many elements and addresses key areas including: community investment, parking, public safety, amenities, the ballpark operations and scheduling. “Lakeview encompasses more than Wrigley Field,” said Tunney. “There are thousands of residents and hundreds of businesses who all contribute to the unique character of our neighborhood. Each of them benefits from the Cubs and there is no doubt our neighborhood is better and more vibrant with the Cubs at Clark and Addison. I’m proud they’ve recommitted to Wrigley Field…

Officials say weather’s to blame for the cancellation.
The Chicago Cubs will not be playing the Milwaukee Brewers Wednesday night due to poor weather, representatives with the team confirm.
