Storytelling and a Queer Contra Dance Party

Queer Contra Dance Party: The Old Town School of Folk Music is hosting a gender-free version of contra dancing (which is similar to square dancing) on Saturday night. Live music will be provided by the Cosmic Otters, and there will be lessons for newbies from 7:30 until 8 p.m. No experience is necessary. Sat. Jan. 4, 7:30 p.m. Old Town School of Folk Music, 4545 N. Lincoln Ave. $10 at the door, although no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
Here's the Story: This popular storytelling event features a few set performers, as well as five open slots for anyone in the audience who wants to tell one. There's also a potluck for everyone. Sun. Hausu Mountain Fest: If you can't get enough "weirdo, experimental and psychedelic music" then this is the festival for you. Seven bands will perform. Sun. Jan. 5, 5:30 p.m., 1035 N. Western Ave., $10.
State of Deception: The Power of Nazi Propaganda: This traveling exhibit, which looks at how Nazis used propaganda to win the support of voters and justify the group's terrible actions. The exhibit is produced by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. Field Museum, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.. General admission is $15 per adult, $10 per child.
