Polar Bears Plunge This Weekend in Lake View

Lake View Polar Bear PlungeCalling all polar bears — the Lakeview Polar Bear Club will be plunging at noon on Jan. 25. If you want to participate, arrive by noon and be ready to make a donation. An after party will follow at Fatpour Tapworks on Division. Funds raised will go to two families in need.  

Coffee and Conversation with State Rep.State representative Ann Williams and Illinois Senate President John Cullerton are inviting Lake View residents to join them for a free cup of coffee and a chance to share their thoughts on issues this Saturday at Dinkel's Bakery — 3329 N. Lincoln Ave. — from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. 

Donut FestSome of you have been waiting for months for this event — and its finally here. The first annual Donut Fest, a competition where fifteen Chicago restaurants will compete for the title of "Best Donut in Chicago" is set for this Sunday at The Chop Shop's 1st Ward (2033 W. North Ave.) from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. for VIP and 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. for everyone else. Tickets are $30 to $45, with funds going to Un86'd. 

Grammy PartyD.S. Tequila wants you to join them for the Grammy's. The award show will be shown on 20 flat screen TVs, with plenty of drink specials to boot. The event begins at 7 p.m. at 3352 N. Halsted. It will last until 11 p.m. 

Generation War Panel DiscussionThe Music Box Theatre is hosting a special panel discussion between the screenings of Part 1 and Part 2 of the German epic "Generation War". The panel includes professors from around the area. Part one of the movie begins at 12 p.m., with the discussion at 2:30 p.m. and part two beginning at 3:30 p.m. Tickets are $9.25.
