Best Ways to Boost Your Metabolism Series

How great would it be if you could take a pill or push a button and magically increase your metabolism? You could lose weight without exercising and could eat WHATEVER you wanted! Dream on! While there is no such pill or button there are things you can do to influence it and give it a little boost.


THE BASICS: The good news is that your metabolism never stops. Even when you are at rest or fully asleep, it is still running. Your brain, heart, lungs, and all your other organs and tissues constantly need energy. They might slow down a bit, but they never stop demanding fuel. This is called your resting metabolic rate and it accounts for the largest portion of your overall daily calorie burn.

For example, if you need to take in 2,000 calories every day in order to function and keep your body weight stable, about 70% of those calories are going to be devoted to your vital organs and tissues working. 20% or more goes to your physical activities and exercise and the other 10% or so aids in digesting and absorbing your food.
