Tunney Selling 9 Belmont Storefronts, Including Ann Sather

The Lake View alderman says it's about having work-life balance. He's selling nine storefronts along the busy Belmont Avenue strip, but word is Ann Sather is here to stay.

Lake View Ald. Tom Tunney (44th) has privately listed a slew of prominent properties down Belmont Avenue, including the building home to Ann Sather, he confirmed with DNAinfo Chicago.

The three buildings for sale are home to nine storefronts including American Apparel, Comedy Sportz and Ann Sather, all just east of the Belmont CTA train station.

"It's just about me having a little bit of a life," Tunney told DNAinfo. "I work seven days a week."

While Tunney declined to share an asking price, multiple real estate sources reportedly told DNAinfo the buildings were listed around $8 million. Tunney says the Belmont Avenue Ann Sather, however, "will always be around.”

The move comes after Tunney sold his Ann Sather building at 5207 N. Clark St. in Andersonville to real estate investors Newcastle Limited. That restaurant will close later this year.
