Another Samardzija Loss: Former Cubs Ace Sells Chicago Condo

The former Cubs ace sold his Lake View condo for about $100,000 below his purchase price shortly after he was traded to the Oakland A's, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Former Chicago Cubs ace Jeff Samardzija is used to taking losses—despite a stellar performance this season, the Cubs' lack of run support didn't help him.

Samardzija, who was traded to Oakland on July 4, just sold his condo in the Southport Corridor of Lakeview for $600,000, about $100,000 less than the original purchase price.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Samardzija was one of the only players on the Cubs who owned property in the Chicago area. Records show that he purchased the condo for $710,000 in 2008, and the price was most recently reduced to $649,000, according to the listing on the Conlon Real Estate website, which was taken down Tuesday.

The top-floor duplex has three bedrooms, three bathrooms and an open floor plan. It also has a wood-burning fireplace, two parking spaces and a gourmet kitchen. The Tribune reports that Samardzija was living elsewhere and renting the condo.
