Rep. Feigenholtz Hosts Condo 101 Workshop

Attorney Sima Kirsch, an expert in condominium law, is featured speaker at enlightening condo 101 workshop.

Do you have the condo neighbors from hell? Does your association struggle with enforcing covenants and association rules? Setting policies that are fair to all owners? Understanding state statutes?

To help ensure that area condo owners and associations know their rights and responsibilities, state Rep. Sara Feigenholtz is hosting a Condo 101 Workshop on Thursday, April 24 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Olson Auditorium at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, located at 836 W. Wellington in Lakeview.

“Our area has one of the highest concentrations of condominiums and high-rises in the city,”Feigenholtz said in press release. “This workshop is a crash course in condo ownership and association management for anyone who wants to learn more about holding their neighbors accountable and making sure their association is running effectively.”

Topics of discussion will include: fundamentals of ownership, owner and board rights and responsibilities, and helping associations go from good to great.

Rep. Feigenholtz is sponsoring two pieces of legislation that directly affect condominium owners throughout the city. House Bill 4204 creates the Office of the Condominium Ombudsperson, an independent office to offer training and educational materials and courses to condominium unit owners and condominium associations. The bill is currently under review in the House Judiciary Committee.

Feigenholtz is also the chief cosponsor of House Bill 4609, which would help ensure that any potential changes to state fire sprinkler laws are created with more transparency, adequate public input, and open discussion in the General Assembly. The bill recently passed out of the State Government Administration Committee, and is headed for a full vote in the Illinois House of Representatives.

“This is about giving people the tools and information they need to be proactive in their associations and handle any disputes they may face,” Feigenholtz said.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information or to RSVP for the Condo 101 Workshop, please contact Feigenholtz’s constituent service office at (773)-296-4141, email sara@staterepsara.com, or visit www.staterepsara.com.
