Marriage Equality Supporters to March in Springfield Tomorrow

The event will feature entertainment, a rally and a march.

Supporters of marriage equality in Illinois will be marching in Springfield Tues. Oct 22, the first day of the fall veto session of the Illinois state legislature.

The March on Springfield for Marriage Equality aims to secure final passage of Senate Bill 10, which has already been approved by the Illinois Senate. If adopted, the bill would make Illinois the 13th state to recognize same-sex marriage.

The event will include entertainment from noon until 1 p.m., a rally from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. and a march around the Capitol from 2:30 until 3:30 p.m. From 3:30 until 5 p.m., LGBT political groups will have events inside the state capitol building. (Such as lobbying of elected officials.) Several bars and organizations will be hosting receptions afterward.

A sign language interpreter will be available, as well as a roped-off area for wheelchairs. Several local restaurants will be on hand selling food.

Around 2,000 signs will be available to carry during the march.
