Police: Man Impersonates Cop, Sexually Abuses Woman

The offender reportedly told the victim that he was a police officer and later sexually abused her.

A man impersonating a police officer sexually abused a woman on the 4700 block of N. Clark St., according to a report by the Chicago Police Department.

The report states that the victim was walking in the area when an unknown male driving an SUV told her that he was a police officer, and that he noticed someone following her. He encouraged her to enter his car for safety. The offender then forced the victim to exit the SUV so he could "search" her, at which time he sexually abused her.

The offender is described as a male between the ages of 30 and 40 years old. The police report states that the offender is possibly mixed race of African American and Caucasian, and is 6 ft tall and 200 pounds with a very short afro hair cut. He is described as good looking, clean cut and well-spoken. He's driving a large dark-colored SUV of unknown color or model.

Police advise that, when possible, don't travel alone or stand alone at bus stops, be alert for strangers or suspicious vehicles and be aware of your surroundings.
