Police DUI Strike Force Will Patrol Lake View This Weekend

Chicago Police will be patrolling Lake View neighborhoods looking for drunk drivers and other traffic lawbreakers this Saturday and Sunday.

If you plan on drinking and driving this weekend -- and we sincerely hope that you don't -- you may want to check your reflector light on your car to make sure its working.

Chicago Police from Town Hall Dist. 19 will be conducting a DUI Strike Force Patrol from 8 p.m. Saturday, March 22, to 4 a.m. Sunday, March 23.

Police will be saturating a pre-designated area with roving police officers that continually monitor traffic for signs of impaired driving.

Patrols will focus on speeders, alcohol-related and safety belt violations. Police vehicles are also equipped with radar to detect speeders. We also advise keeping the cell phones hands free.

Drivers should also be prepared for the BAT mobile -- Breath Alcohol Testing Mobile Unit -- that may be deployed to allow officers to expedite DUI arrests by administering breath tests on the spot. Those who refuse or exceed the legal limit of .08 will be transported to the nearest lockup for bonding.
