Lake View Blaze Sends Firefighter to Hospital

The fire came on one of the hottest days of the year, spreading to a neighboring building before being put out.

A firefighter was taken to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after being injured while fighting a blaze in Lake View, officials told DNAinfo Chicago.

Crews were called to the 3600 block of North Wayne Avenue around 12:45 p.m. to tackle the blaze at the nearly 3-story building, ABC7 reports. No other injuries were reported, but the fire did spread to a neighboring building before being extinguished.

Firefighters put the flames out by roughly 1:20 p.m., the Chicago Fire Department told DNAinfo. While the injured crew member was taken to Lake View’s Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, it’s still unclear what type of injury he’s suffering from.

What exactly caused the fire is still under investigation.
