Former Bear Tommie Harris Arrested in Wrigleyville

The former NFL player is charged with multiple crimes in the Lake View neighborhood around midnight Monday evening.

Tommie Harris, a former defensive tackle for the Chicago Bears, was arrested in Lake View’s Wrigleyville neighborhood Monday night, officials told the Chicago Tribune.

The ex-NFL pro was charged with indecent exposure, urinating in public and simple assault after he apparently threatened a police officer around the 1000 block of West Eddy Street, WGNTV reports. That’s just one block south of Wrigley Field.

Harris was cut from the Chicago Bears in February 2011 after knee problems forced him to be less aggressive on the defense, a move that didn’t fulfill his scheduled $5.3 million contract, according to NBC Sports. However, there were rumors of the Bears potentially signing Harris again in May.

In February 2012, Harris also lost his 29-year-old wife Ashley who died of a brain aneurysm, reports the Tribune. They have two children together.

Harris will make his first appearance in court on Oct. 27.
