Elderly Woman Rolls Wheelchair onto CTA Tracks

The woman fell onto the tracks, delaying the Brown and Red lines, and was transferred to a Lake View hospital.

Brown and Red Line CTA trains were delayed Sunday morning after an elderly woman lost control of her motorized wheelchair, falling onto the train tracks at the Diversey Brown Line station, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

The station is located at 943 W. Diversey Pkwy. on the border between Lincoln Park and Lake View.

It all happened at about 10:20 a.m. when a man saw the disabled woman fall in front of the train that was loading passengers. She was transferred to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Lake View shortly after, bleeding from the forehead and complaining of a headache, according to the Sun-Times.

Minor delays were reported at 11:15 a.m., the Chicago Tribune reports, but normal service was restored shortly after. The Sun-Times even reports the trains were up and running at the Diversey Parkway station as early as 10:55 a.m.
