ARRESTED: Police Charge Man and Woman in String of North Side Robberies

Couple who robbed five restaurants and business were arrested after six-day crime spree, cops say.

Chicago Police ended the crime spree of a couple who allegedly robbed four businesses and food delivery man between March 22 and March 28.

Sarah Doubek, 35, and Brian O’Conner, 31, both of the 2200 block of West Madison Street, were arrested around 6 p.m. Friday.

The couple are believed to have robbed a 7-Eleven store in the Lincoln Square neighborhood around 10:30 p.m. March 27.

While Doubek inquired about lottery tickets, O’ Conner got a Slurpee. When he returned to the counter pay for the drink, police said he pulled out a sawed-off shotgun or “short rifle,” as described by the store employee. The two fled with $60 from the cash register.

Later that night, police said that Doubek and O’Conner hit a Sarpino’s Pizzeria in the 600 block of West Lake Street.

O’Conner displayed an explosive device and threatened to blow up the pizzeria if the employee did not clean out the cash registers, police said.

Not satisfied with the amount of cash from the registers, O’Conner allegedly told the employee he would “push the button” if the employee did not open the safe. The pair left with $1,200, but not before O’Connor helped himself to a liter of pop, reports said.

The couple are also accused of trying to rob the pizzeria employee.

Doubek and O’Conner have also been charged in two other robberies in the 200 block of South Leavitt on March 22 and a robbery the next day in the 2300 block of West Madison.

In those incidents, police said that O’Conner used a shotgun-type of firearm to rob retauransts and food delivery drivers, while Doubek acted as a lookout.

Doubek and O’Conner were each charged with three felony counts of armed robbery with a dangerous weapon, one felony count of aggravated robbery, and one felony count of attempted aggravated robbery.

Both appeared in bond court at 26th and California on Sunday.
