5 Men Charged, 2 Cops Hurt in Montrose Beach Fight

Two police officers were injured after bottles were thrown at them Sunday as they tried to break up a fight in the 4400 block of North Simmonds Drive.

Police charged five people Monday involved with a Sunday night Montrose Beach fight that injured two officers, Sun-Times Media reports.

Efrain Saucedo, 23, and Emmanuel Lopez, 19, both of Aurora, were charged with felony aggravated battery to a police officer after both were witnessed throwing bottles at two police officers, injuring them, the report stated. One officer was treated and released from a local hospital, and the other refused treatment at the scene, the report added.

A 22-year-old Aurora man and a 19-year-old Summitt man were arrested and charged with misdemeanor counts of aggravated assault to a police officer and mob action, the report stated. A 17-year-old Chicago boy was charged with misdemeanor mob action and a felony count of criminal damage to property, the report added.

Police were flagged down at about 7:40 p.m. Sunday, July 13, in the 4400 block of North Simmonds Drive to break up a fight, and more officers were then called to the scene, the report stated. Nine people were originally arrested at the scene, according to the report.
