I guess the "youth" services get special treatment that don't need their permits to operate officially.

I feel like social service programs for impoverished "youth" are definitely worthy of special treatment. The "youth" aremost definitely in crisis and some of those "youth" live in the neighborhood, not just on the South or West sides. Also, why are we putting "youth" in quotation marks?

Youth is in quotes because the Broadway "Youth" Center (BYC) say they serve people up to the age of 24. I thought people were legally considered youths until 17. In reality, those "24 year olds" might actually be 44 year olds since the BYC say they do not ID any of their clientele. God forbid they offend them by knowing their age or who they actually are. Probably choir boys anyway. Nothing to look at here. Carry on...

A youth center which is founded on the principle that youths need to look deep inside themselves to achieve success rather than merely parroting Obama about racism might do some good. But, if they are legitimate they should have no complaints or problems in qualifying for special use permits, to meet standards which can assure the community that their charges are not going to run amok in the neighborhood before or after the activities or sessions engaged in, and to promote responsible, productive and successful citizens as their goals.

Thanks to all who made an effort to show up. SELVN certainly was not ready for the amount of people that showed up! It really boils down to accountability. Period.
