Uncommon Ground to Brew Craft Beer in Wrigleyville

The eco-friendly restaurant will transform a 1,200-square-foot space next door into its new craft brewery.

Owners of Lake View’s Uncommon Ground announced they plan to start brewing their own craft beer starting this December, reports Crain’s Chicago Business.

The restaurant, located in Wrigleyville at 3800 N. Clark St., plans to transform a neighboring 1,200-square-foot boutique space to make room for the seven-barrel brew house, writes reporter Ari Bendersky. The brews will then feed directly into Uncommon Ground’s tap system next door.

"We've wanted to add a brewery since the beginning of Uncommon Ground but never really had anywhere to do it, the space or the money," owner Michael Cameron told Crain’s.

The restaurant is best known for it’s eco-friendly fare, even garnering the title of being the “greenest” restaurant in America. Uncommon Ground has two locations, the second one being at 1401 W. Devon Ave. in Edgewater.

Crain’s reports the Wrigleyville location will likely first brew an American pale ale with seasonal ales based on menu changes.
