Gap Starting Build Out Of New Flagship Store In July

Now that the structure's construction is nearly complete, Gap is ready to come and build out its new 2-story flagship store in hopes of opening in early fall, the Lakeview Chamber of Commerce reports.

Construction at the 10,000-square-foot storefront began Nov. 9 when crews began demolishing the former Ann Sather at 3461 N. Southport Ave. Now seven months later, the store is ready to be occupied.

"Gap to take possession of (the) new Southport location 1st week of July," the Lakeview Chamber tweeted. "Open (in) early fall."

The updated construction timeline comes after representatives with Gap Inc. denied rumors that the new store would carry the brand's boutique line Piperlime.

On Wednesday, crews on the scene were still preparing the empty store for occupancy.
