Beheaded Bear Throws Punch At Wrigleyville Bar Patron

Watch unsanctioned Cubs' mascot "Billy Cub" take a swing at an unruly bachelor party patron after he unmasked him at a Wrigleyville bar.

Unofficial Cubs mascot Patrick  Weier, one of three men who don the "Billy Cub" bear costume and roam Wrigleyville on game days, threw a punch at a bar patron after he beheaded him, he says.

Weier was at John Barleycorn bar at 3524 N. Clark St. posing  for pictures with fans this weekend after Cubs-Phillies game. He told the Chicago Tribune that a clip posted to YouTube which has since gone viral, only caught the end of the altercation.

According to Weier, the patron pushed him down and punched him. Weier got back up to fraternize with fans. The patron continued to hector him and tried to grab Weier's cooler where he holds his tips.

A description of the video posted on YouTube says the patron was "with a bachelor party."

Weier said the patron snuck up behind him and took off his bear head. That's when Weier punched the guy.

"He assaulted me first," Weier told the Tribune.

Weier says that he's been asked by the Cubs organization to stop appearing as the Billy Cub character outside Wrigley Field.

There were no arrests.
