Transportation Provided to City's Warming Centers

There are many Warming Centers open across the city to provide residents a relief from the cold.

The City of Chicago is extending the hours at six community service centers across the city to provide residents relief from the freezing temperatures.

The Warming Center at 10 S. Kedzie Ave. will be open 24 hours per day, seven days a week.

Centers with extended hours (now open from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m.) include:

  • Englewood Center, 1140 W. 79th St.
  • Garfield Center, 10 S. Kedzie Ave.
  • King Center, 4314 S. Cottage Grove
  • North Area, 845 W. Wilson Ave.
  • South Chicago, 8650 S. Commercial Ave.
  • Trina Davila, 4357 W. Armitage Ave.
Other city facilities, like libraries, Park District buildings and senior centers, will also be open as Warming Centers during normal business hours.

Transportation is available for the elderly and disabled who can't get to a Warming Center on their own. Call 311 to make arrangements, or to request well-being checks for at risk residents.
