The Crib To Be Featured on 'The Today Show'

The overnight youth center, located in Lake View, will be featured on the "Today Show" on Tuesday.

The Crib, the Night Ministry's overnight youth shelter located in the Lakeview Lutheran Church (835 W. Addison) will be featured on The Today Show on Tuesday.

According to a Tweet sent out by The Night Ministry, the segment should air at 7 a.m., although that's subject to change.

The youth shelter, which opened in Jan. of 2011, is an overnight shelter for homeless youth between the ages of 18 to 24. It was the only program of its kind in the Midwest when it first started. The space, which strives to be welcoming to all genders and sexual orientations, is open seven nights per week, and offers young people a hot meal, a place to sleep, activities and a safe place. The Crib can accommodate 20 youth per night.

The Crib website states that there are only around 230 shelter beds for youth in Chicago, while there are an estimated 2,000 homeless young people in Chicago.
