Lake View's Mutt Strut event on Southport was a huge success, drawing in donations for the Chicago Canine Rescue. Do you recognize anyone?

The Chicago Canine Rescue Foundation held its largest fundraiser of the year in Lake View Saturday afternoon, and according to organizers, it was a huge success.

The 8th Annual Mutt Strut is a 1.5-mile walk up Southport to Wrigley Field from Newport Avenue with area residents’ favorite canine friends. And along the walk, the Mutt Strut features a full-blown block part with music, food, contests and more.

“Thank you to everyone who came out to the Mutt Strut yesterday!” wrote Candace Canty, owner of Dog-A-Holics on Southport, on Mutt Strut’s Facebook page. “It was a HUGE success for current and future dogs of Chicago Canine Rescue!”

The event happened during the same time as the potluck party introducing area residents to the upcoming Low Line Market. Situated below the Southport L station, the upscale farmers market is scheduled to open in 2013.

The money raised during the Mutt Strut goes toward helping CCR find permanent homes for homeless dogs in Chicago. Check out their long list of available pets up for adoption here on CCR's website.
