PHOTOS: Kosher Barbecue Opens Tuesday on North Broadway

The unique new restaurant Milt's Barbeque for the Perplexed is serving up kosher dishes starting Tuesday night. And did we mention it's also a nonprofit?

Lake View’s newest unique restaurant, Milt’s Barbeque for the Perplexed officially opens its doors for dinner Tuesday night.

Not only does the new eatery serve up kosher barbecue dishes, owners plan to donate 100 percent of profits to charity and local organizations. Manager Dan Weiss says based on the soft opening on Thursday, they’re anticipating a successful first donation.

“The first Community Gift of the Month, as we call it, will be given to Nettelhorst Elementary School,” Weiss said. “How much is donated will depend completely on sales, so we really encourage people to come in.”

The idea of a kosher barbecue restaurant forgoing profits is so perplexing, it actually inspired the business’ name, Weiss said.

Located at 3411 N. Broadway at the intersection with Roscoe Street, Milt’s will start serving dinner at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. Weiss encourages people to call ahead to schedule a reservation, as space is limited. Also, according to the restaurant’s Facebook page, the hot new barbecue joint won’t start allowing takeout orders until Feb. 7 or deliveries until March 1.
