Lake View Neighbors Hosting Oktoberfest for Local Charities

The annual neighborhood event is all about beer, brats and giving back to the community.

To kick-off the month of October, East Lake View Neighbors is hosting their annual Oktoberfest event to give back to neighborhood schools and charities.

Local residents are invited to Wrigleyville’s historic bar Murphy’s Bleachers on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. for traditional Oktoberfest fare like a roasted pork dinner, brats, potato salad, and of course, beer. While the entry ticket is $30 at the door, the non-profit group of Lake View residents is taking 100 percent of the proceeds and donating it to a better cause.

“Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, we raised over $17,000 last year, wich a current goal of $20,000,” wrote East Lake View Neighbors member Amy Karatz in an email. “Some of our past recipients include: Greeley School and Inter-American Magnet School, the House of Good Shepherd (a shelter for battered women), the Lakeview Food Pantry, youth programs at Gill Park, the 19th Police District Steering Committee, Ignite the Spirit (for local Firefighters and Paramedics), and an engaging community sculpture.”
