CUBS CHARITIES RAISES MORE THAN $390,000 IN 9TH ANNUAL RACE TO WRIGLEY

Approximately 6,300 runners and walkers took to the streets of Lakeview for Saturday morning’s annual Race to Wrigley presented by Athletico. The 5K race began at the corner of Clark and Addison with participants finishing through the stadium’s ground level concourse under the famed Wrigley Field marquee.

The pre-race warm- up was led by Biggest Loser Season 14 winner Danni Allen, who guided participants through a series of exercises and stretches.  Chicago Cubs owner Laura Ricketts took to the stage to welcome everyone and former Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago patient, Diana Greiner, sang the National Anthem.  Both Ricketts and Allen served as official race starters.

Participants were encouraged to fundraise for prizes and those who raised over $1,000 ran a post-race victory lap around the warning track inside Wrigley Field.  The top fundraising team honors went to Zakk Attakk and the top individual fundraiser was Melissa Carrier West. In total, participants’ personal fundraising proceeds totaled approximately $65,000 with the race itself drawing more than $325,000 benefitting Cubs Charities and Lurie Children’s.
