MAP: Food Truck Parking Spots Announced in Chicago, Lake View

Chicago food trucks are only allowed to park in certain locations. Check out where you might find one in Lake View and around Chicago.

Food trucks in Chicago’s are one step closer towards approval.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel introduced a plan to the Chicago City Council today to establish designated parking places for food trucks in higher-density neighborhoods like Lake View and Lincoln Park. This comes after an ordinance was passed in July expanding food truck operations across Chicago, but forcing the mobile eateries to park in “food truck stands” in more congested areas of the city.

“These dedicated stands for food trucks will provide additional parking opportunities and expanded operations to foster this growing industry,” said Mayor Emanuel.  “They will also help to safeguard communities from added congestion and public safety issues, while creating economic opportunity throughout the city.”

Five spaces were suggested for Lake View:

  • 2934 N Broadway St
  • 3627 N Southport Ave
  • 817 W Belmont Ave
  • 3420 N Lincoln Ave
  • 3420 N Lincoln Ave

And while the spaces are about to be officially locked down, not everyone is happy about the non-mobile food trucks. Lake View officials worked diligently to locate spaces for the trucks that wouldn’t compete with brick-and-mortar businesses.
