The National Association of Professional Pet Sitters Elects New Board Members
The National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS), a nonprofit trade association dedicated to promoting the welfare of animals, announces the election of two leading professional pet sitters, Jessica Abernathy and Debra Farrington to join its Board of Directors, effective January 1, 2013.
The newly-elected board members will join the recently elected slate of officers, President Sherry Suhosky of Jack Rapid Runners, LLC in Placitas, NM; Past President John F. D’Ariano of A Pet Sitter Plus of Boynton Beach, FL; President-Elect Yvette Gonzales of As You Wish, LLC in Highlands Ranch, CO; Secretary - Treasurer Marcia Breithaupt of Liberty Home and Pet Services, LLC in Naples, FL; and current board members Director Jessica Dwyer of Whiskers At Home, LLC in Bellevue, WA; Director Michele Gonzalez of Fur Feather Fin Pet Care, Owings Mills, MD; Director Tiffany Hammer Mason of White Rock Pet Services in Dallas, TX, Director Kara Jenkins of TLC House & Pet Sitting Service, LLC in Chandler, AZ, and Director Cyndy Lippert of Whiskers & Wags Professional Pet Sitting, LLC, in Killingworth, CT.
NAPPS is the only national nonprofit pet sitting trade association run by members, for members. The NAPPS Board of Directors is comprised of pet sitters, business owners and entrepreneurs who are leaders in the in-home pet care industry. In this capacity, board members are responsible for helping to guide the direction of the association, providing tools and support to foster the success of members’ businesses, promoting the value of pet sitting to the public and advocating for the welfare of animals.
Jessica Abernathy of Kramers Pet Sitting & Dog Walking in Buffalo Grove, IL was recently elected as a Director to the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS) board of directors. Jessica began her pet sitting business in 2007 and has grown her cliental to include all types of pets—from traditional pets to farm animals and reptiles. Jessica offers her clients a variety of services, including behavior modification training, dog walking and taxi services. She became a member of NAPPS in 2010 and currently serves as the Chairperson of the Membership Committee.
Debra Farrington of Debra Farrington’s Petsitting Etc., of Hershey, PA, was recently elected as a Director to the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS) board of directors. Debra began her pet sitting business in 2007, while working for a local veterinary practice. After only a few months, her business and services were in such demand that she became a full time pet sitter. Debra received the NAPPS Certification in 2011, the same year her business was named NAPPS Business of the Year. Debra also served as chair person for the Presents 4 Pets committee, an annual collection drive in conjunction with the Humane Society of the United States’ campaign for National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week. Currently, she is the Chairperson of the Pet Sitter Education Committee.
